Jazzamoart
Javier Vázquez Estupiñán was born on May 28, 1951 in Irapuato, Guanajuato, Mexico. He comes from a family of artists, where his father, a painter, was also his first art teacher. He developed a great love of music at a young age spending time at his grandfather’s luxurious barber shop, El Lujo, where the barbers played instruments like banjos and clarinets, first exposing him to the melodies of jazz. In 1971 he adopted the name Jazzamoart for his love of both jazz and art.As a young artist born in the 50’s, his focus on jazz helped set him apart from his teacher’s artist styles, who are part of the Generación de la Ruptura. While studying at the Academia de San Carlos in the eighties, Jazzamoart developed and refined his personal artistic style, securing a place in the Latin American plastic art scene.
