Vicente Rojo
Vicente Rojo, born in Barcelona, Spain in 1932 is an artist, painter, designer and editor who has worked primarily in Mexico where he arrived at the age of 17. Rojo’s work explores a modernist vision of Mexico and his work’s trajectory has focused on editorial design and painting, through a lens of social and utilitarian service that honors the autonomy and difficulty of the process itself. His work exists in a melting point which maintains a strong link between the past and the present, the social and the personal, the communicative and the enigmatic, the gesture and the word. His work unfolds the multitude of tension between the letter and the painting. Through his thorough and rigorous study of form, sign and color, he has given place to a concept worth knowing and applied through complex design techniques in his graphic and editorial design work, artist books, sculpture and painting series, as well as drawings.
